DSC01372

We are constantly developing systems and components for the high performance automotive sector.

As a testing platform we have developed and nearly finished building a Lotus 7 like road legal vehicle. Space frame wider than the original 7 is built in 25mm square steel tubing. The power is supplied by 4.0 L Lexus V8 - 1UZFE Engine.

The Lexus engine was selected due to few key factors. It is low package with a low center of gravity. It's powerful with smooth power delivery - with barely 250-300kg keeping the rear wheels down,  picky power delivery can be huge handling disadvantage. It's one of the best engines with reasonable price and performance parts available world wide. As a negative quality comes the firing order, due to 90 deg crank pin layout, making it virtually impossible to phase the exhausts for performance and sound, but this is something we can tolerate.

The rear suspension is multilink with push-rods, rockers and inboard dampers with coilover springs. Optional long travel soft road going set up, or short, hard, race track set up.

The Front suspension is double control arm, push-rod, rockers and adjustable inboard dampers with coilover springs . Also adjustable stabilizer bar. The push-rods are attached off-pivot-axes to the hub carrier for increase of the vertical load of the outer cornering wheel. This combats the chassis roll and loss of camber.

The Hub Carriers, differential, sideshafts and the brakes are from Mercedes-Benz. The control arms are built to suit the custom chassis layout. The multilink set up allows us to dial whatever characteristics we need for the given test.

The multilink MB rear suspension is very sensitive to bumpsteer settings.

The current brakes from MB are operated by two Wilwood master cylinders through a balance bar for adjustable bias. Brakes are not assisted by a booster. Instead the braking effort is sized to equal the average driver weight times the braking G-force, effectively giving the driver support while braking hard.
